Background

Palaeoprotomics is the study of proteins from archaeological and palaeontological material. Our group is a multidisciplinary team of enthusiastic archeologists, biologists and computer scientists at the forefront of analysing historical and ancient biomolecules. We investigate diverse aspects of past-populations such as trade and disease.

We are recruiting a motivated and hardworking individual for the position of Research Assistant (RA). This position is part of PROTEIOS (Niels Bohr Chair in Palaeoproteomics), which aims to establish and develop an interdisciplinary team to advance the field of Palaeoproteomics using a high-risk / high-reward strategy.

Roles

An RA is required to support several ongoing and planned future projects.

Specific tasks include:

  • Molecular Biology techniques in particular extraction and purification of protein and DNA
  • Assist in the technical training of staff, students and visitors
  • Assist with the overall maintenance of the lab such as purchasing and stocking

Profile

Essential experience and skills:

  • MSc in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry (or similar)
  • Previous experience of working in a ‘wet’ laboratory
  • Ability to work independently in an organised manner, and be self-motivated
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills in English; spoken and written

Terms of employment

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 417,442 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 73,382). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

The position is full-time (37 hours per week) and is open from 1 July 2019 until 30 September 2021.

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
